Nannie Gough was the youngest daughter of Robert Gough and Elizabeth Brown. She was born in the U.S., but most of her siblings were born in England. The family left Liverpool to sail to the U.S. on board the Lone Star, arriving in Philadelphia on June 13, 1854 after a difficult passage across the Atlantic. Nannie’s father Robert was a coal miner. The family initially settled in Kentucky but by 1864 had moved to Boonville, Indiana.
Nannie Gough married Elisha Wilson, owner of a dry goods store on the Boonville town square, on December 30, 1886. The couple had three children: Robert Rice Wilson, Helen Wilson, and Ruth Gough Wilson. Nannie lost her husband in 1937, and moved to Chicago to live near her daughter, Ruth. She lived to see the birth of several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
